Duration of Programs

The duration for most programs at Private Education Institutions in Singapore are: 6 months for certificate/foundation programmes, 8-12 months for Diploma, 16-18 months for Bachelor degree (after completion of Diploma) and 12 months for Master degree programs. 

Accommodation and Living expenses

Accommodation is approximately SGD 600.00 to SGD 900.00 a month.  Living expenses range from SGD 300 - 500 a month. Note that this cost is indicative and the cost varies according to many factors like location, size of accommodation, lifestyle etc. There are options to stay in on-campus dorms, privately owned student accommodation and off-campus housing. 

Healthcare and Medical Insurance

All international students are required to purchase medical insurance and fee protection scheme insurance. These fees are included in your tuition fee. Read here to understand more about the mandatory fee protection scheme.

Working Part-Time

International students studying at Singapore's Private Education Institutions (PEIs) are NOT allowed to engage in any employment activities. International students studying at Singapore's Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) are able to work up to 16 hours per week.

Money Matters

Electronic funds transfer like telegraphic transfers are the most common method of paying tuition fees. Cheque and credit card are also accepted. After arriving in Singapore, students advised to open a bank account under a student account so that their parents can transfer money to their bank account. POSB, DBS Bank, UOB and OCBC are popular choices among international students with access to ATMs easily.

Telecommunication

If you are a heavy internet data user outdoors, make many calls through your mobile or both, you may consider signing a postpaid account contract with a telco provider. If not, you may wish to consider a prepaid card. Universities in Singapore have wifi access on campus. You may have to purchase internet date in on-campus accommodation. If you are living off-campus, you may wish to get a internet plan with an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Telcos like SingTel, Starhub, M1 have student plans.and are popular choices among international students
